For the fourth week, we move to a more pleasant topic, “Is Heaven Real?” It is human nature to wonder if there is something after this life and what it might be like. For help with this question, we turn to John 14:1-3 to see if we can make sense of the topic.

See you Sunday.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jim

This Week's Scriptures

John 14:1-3

Jesus the Way to the Father

14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe[a] in God, believe also in me.  2 In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b]  3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.

This third week we will discuss a topic we tend to avoid. The topic is hell! What happens to those who do not believe in Jesus? “Are All Non-Christians Going to Hell?" We will be turning to 1 Timothy 2:3-6 and a few other passages as we examine the question.

See you Sunday.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jim

This Week's Scriptures

1 Timothy 2:3-6

3 This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,  4 who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  5 For

there is one God;    there is also one mediator between God and humankind,Christ Jesus, himself human,6     who gave himself a ransom for all

—this was attested at the right time.

In week two’s installment, we will examine our doubts about the Bible. The message “The Good Book? Wrestling with the Bible” will be based on 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Is the book an interesting collection of creative writing or an inspired book? And what exactly do we mean by "inspired by God"?

See you Sunday.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jim

This Week's Scriptures

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is inspired by God and is[a] useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,  17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
